Art’s Transformative Potential: Comparing Doris Salcedo’s Plegaria Muda and Ludmila Ferrari’s CultusAerne, Annatina; Universität St.GallennullnullThis paper examines the transformative potential of two contemporary Colombian artworks on society. The question is interesting in light of the internal conflict and a recent increased activity in the art market in Colombia. Two installations created by Colombian artists are contrasted in order to approach the question. Doris Salcedo’s Plegaria muda (2008-2010) and Ludmila Ferrari’s Cultus (2007-2015) provide an interesting basis for comparison because the two artworks differ with respect to their involvement with art institutions. The installations are juxtaposed along different dimensions: how they encourage connections amongst citizens and transcend their immediate publics by linking different audiences, as well as how they restructure space so as to introduce a different set of norms.Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Bogotánull2018-02-24T15:05:47Z2020-04-16T13:54:35Z2018-02-24T15:05:47Z2020-04-16T13:54:35Z2016-11-01http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85Artículo de revistahttp://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionPDFapplication/pdfhttp://revistas.javeriana.edu.co/index.php/cma/article/view/1554410.11144/Javeriana.mavae11-2.atpc2215-99591794-6670http://hdl.handle.net/10554/24374enghttp://revistas.javeriana.edu.co/index.php/cma/article/view/15544/Art%2015http://revistas.javeriana.edu.co/index.php/cma/article/downloadSuppFile/15544/6715http://revistas.javeriana.edu.co/index.php/cma/article/downloadSuppFile/15544/6716http://revistas.javeriana.edu.co/index.php/cma/article/downloadSuppFile/15544/7395http://revistas.javeriana.edu.co/index.php/cma/article/downloadSuppFile/15544/7396Journal of Music, Visual and Performing Arts; Vol. 11, Núm. 2 (2016): Prácticas Artísticas y CiudadCuadernos de Música, Artes Visuales y Artes Escénicas; Vol. 11, Núm. 2 (2016): Prácticas Artísticas y CiudadCopyright (c) 2016 Annatina AerneAtribución-NoComercial-SinDerivadas 4.0 Internacionalinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccesshttp://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2reponame:Repositorio Universidad Javerianainstname:Pontificia Universidad Javerianainstacron:Pontificia Universidad Javeriana2023-03-28T21:14:15Z |
