Invertebrates were identified belonging to different phyla: Annelida, Mollusca, and Arthropoda, corresponding to five classes, 14 orders, and 51 families. Biological monitoring working party (BMWP)/Col., ICO, and ICA-CETESB (Environmental Agency of the State of São Paulo) indexes were evaluated to determine water quality and environmental impact caused by urban growth. Statistical analysis of collected data revealed progressive basin deterioration from the first site of collection to the last site. At the beginning of the evaluated course, good water quality was observed. However, after flowing through the urban area, very poor quality indexes were detected. Based on the Wenger et al. guidelines two main problems were identified: weak enforcement of environmental laws, in addition to poorly legislated environmental urban planning.Pontificia Universidad Javeriana2018-09-27T19:47:18Z2020-04-15T18:10:31Z2018-09-27T19:47:18Z2020-04-15T18:10:31Z2018-05-04http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85Artículo de revistahttp://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501info:eu-repo/semantics/articlePeer-reviewed Articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionPDFapplication/pdfhttp://revistas.javeriana.edu.co/index.php/scientarium/article/view/2217010.11144/Javeriana.SC23-1.aopc2027-13520122-7483http://hdl.handle.net/10554/37133enghttp://revistas.javeriana.edu.co/index.php/scientarium/article/view/22170/17271Universitas Scientiarum; Vol. 23 Núm. 1 (2018); 109-128Universitas Scientiarum; Vol 23 No 1 (2018); 109-128Universitas Scientiarum; v. 23 n. 1 (2018); 109-128Copyright (c) 2018 Universitas ScientiarumAtribución-NoComercial-SinDerivadas 4.0 Internacionalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccesshttp://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2reponame:Repositorio Universidad Javerianainstname:Pontificia Universidad Javerianainstacron:Pontificia Universidad Javeriana2023-03-28T21:15:31Z
