Este escrito es un intento por encontrar herramientas que, acudiendo al pensamiento político de Thomas Hobbes, permitan defender la siguiente tesis: las concepciones de lo político en las que se justifica el Estado únicamente como garante de derechos de propiedad y del efectivo cumplimiento de los contratos, relegando la satisfacción de las necesidades mínimas de existencia a las reglas del mercado, son una de las causas o generaciones del alarmante incremento de los niveles de la pobreza en el mundo. Para lograrlo, el lector encontrará una lectura de Hobbes diferente de las tradicionales, basada en Carl Schmitt y la relación “protección-obediencia”.The problem with global poverty is at the core of philosophical and legal theory. The present essay is an attempt to display the necessary tools, beginning with Thomas Hobbes´s political thought, that will allow defending the following thesis: The concept of the political in which the state is justified solely as a warrant of rights of property and the fulfillment of contracts, withdrawing from the achievement of minimum existential necessities and thriving them to the “invisible hand” of the market, is of the main causes of poverty in the world today.
