Kelley-seegmiller syndrome: urolithiasis, renal uric acid deposits, and gout: What is the role of the urologist?

Kelley-Seegmiller syndrome (KSS) is a disorder that occurs when there is a partial deficiency of the enzyme hypoxanthine guanine phosphoribosyl transferase. It is involved in the metabolism of purines, clinically manifesting as hyperuricemia, hyperuricosuria, gout arthritis, and urolithiasis. The ai...

The aim of this article is to present the case of a 33-year-old male with KSS, with left ureteral colic, and a 5-mm, 323-HU ureteral calculi, successfully managed with conservative management. It is critical to recognize that most urologists are not familiar with this inborn metabolic error and 75% of these patients will be affected by urolithiasis, thus making it a very critical and significant disease in our practice.Q4Q2Pacientes con Síndrome de Kelley-Seegmillerhttps://orcid.org/0000-0003-0363-5485https://orcid.org/0000-0002-2226-8871https://orcid.org/0000-0001-5749-6340Revista Internacional - IndexadaA2NoPDFapplication/pdfengHypoxanthine Guanine Phosphoribosyltransferase 1 Deficiency, PartialHprt1 Deficiency, PartialKelley-Seegmiller SyndromeUrolithiasisKelley-seegmiller syndrome: urolithiasis, renal uric acid deposits, and gout: What is the role of the urologist?Reporte de casohttp://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501233237Urologia Internationalis1022ORIGINALa2487.pdfapplication/pdf530808http://repository.javeriana.edu.co/bitstream/10554/60019/1/a2487.pdfbb1cdb9d5c4d1eff86d11d6b49c53232MD51open accessTHUMBNAILa2487.pdf.jpga2487.pdf.jpgIM Thumbnailimage/jpeg8245http://repository.javeriana.edu.co/bitstream/10554/60019/2/a2487.pdf.jpg2be1fe852dbf383ff7898a34a827660bMD52open access10554/60019oai:repository.javeriana.edu.co:10554/600192023-05-10 19:48:11.507Repositorio Institucional - Pontificia Universidad Javerianarepositorio@javeriana.edu.co
