Encontré en el diálogo con mi abuela la forma de recuperar el vínculo perdido, la forma de resistir ante la pérdida del saber, reconocer en la historia las luchas pasadas de mujeres en la sanación. Sentada junto a ella me reconecté con una cosmovisión del cuerpo que las mujeres de mi familia habían practicado por años, la de un cuerpo espacial y habitable a través del tacto. Estar tan cerca de los saberes de la sobandería, el oficio de mi abuela, me generó una íntima necesidad de adentrarme en mi propio cuerpo, para enfrentar y reconocer mis propias luchas; un cuerpo dolido que no sabía cómo curarse, un cuerpo desorientado que habita y recorre un mundo que siente que no le pertenece. Al darme cuenta de mi propia vulnerabilidad, comencé un camino de auto cuidado en comunión con otras mujeres en experiencias similares. Espero siempre poder retornar a sus palabras y abrazarlas. |

Sitting next to her, I reconnected with the worldview of the body that is spatial and livable through touch. A worldview that the women in my family had practiced for years. Being close to the knowledge of sobandería (the Spanish word for the folk medicinal practice of "body rubbing"), my grandmother's craft, an intimate need to go inside my own body was instilled in me. To face and recognize my own struggles of a hurt body that did not know how to heal itself, a disorientated body that inhabits and travels through a world that it feels it does not belong to. Through realizing my own vulnerability, I began a journey of self-care with other women who have been through similar experiences.
