El artículo hace un análisis de los patrones de mortalidad comparativos para Cali y Valle del Cauca, entre la población afrodescendiente y la blanca-mestiza, por sexo y grupos etarios, con base en los metadatos de fallecidos en el Censo 2005 y el Certificado de Defunción del año 2010. Los hallazgos revelan fuertes diferenciales según estructuras de edad de los fallecimientos (pirámides) y en la mortalidad acumulada, que son concluyentes de patrones de mortalidad desiguales entre las dos poblaciones, tanto en el Valle como en Cali. Esto apunta a una demografía de la desigualdad social con base en el componente étnico-racial. |

The findings reveal strong differentials by age structures of deaths ( pyramids) and the cumulative mortality, which are conclusive of unequal mortality patterns between the two populations, both in Cali and Valle.
