Además de larevisión, que es de gran valor para los tomadores de decisiones sobre comercio internacional, políticaeconómica y economía regional, son identificadas temáticas de investigación futura. |

The paper is based on a descriptive literature review of the Colombian railways, which allowed toidentify 4 recurring subjects: governmental administrative problems, competition with road mode, coaltransportation, and some technical issues such as geometric design, railway capacity, efficiency, modalintegration, and transport modeling.
