Summary:The number of people living in poverty continues to be a major problem in developing countries. While significant progress has been achieved, most developing countries remain off-track for the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and are not able to successfully embark on the path of sustainable development in all its senses, economic, social and environmental, the latter including climate change mitigation and adaptation.
