The taxonomic problems within the subfamily Scarabaeinae in Colombia are discussed; and a unique code for each morpho-species is proposed to further the the standardization of identification for records that cannot be identified to species. Only 35 species (51 %) could be identified to species, the others were codified.

Se revisaron 19.797 ejemplares de 68 especies que corresponde al mayor número de especies registrado para varias localidades de bosque seco en Colombia. Se discute sobre los problemas taxonómicos que existen en los escarabajos coprófagos (subfamilia Scarabaeinae) en Colombia y se propone la unificación de registros, asignando un código único a cada una de las especies en las que no es posible asignarle un epíteto específico.
