Description
Summary:Given the importance in the economy of the stock market of Colombia, in this research work seeks to understand its operation and structure through the analysis of the degree of concentration. Through the use of the indicators provided by the theory of industrial organization and based on data of the amounts negotiated through the Colombian Stock Exchange, it is revealed that the mergers and liquidations that have marked the behavior of commission firms of the stock market in recent years, have made a moderately concentrated market and in some years highly concentrated. However, when differentiating between fixed-income and equity instruments, a higher level of concentration is found in the first.
