Análisis del costo ambiental y el impacto económico que conlleva la implementación del fracking en los próximos diez años en Colombia

Oil plays a very important role as the main source of energy, in addition to being a basic raw material in the petrochemical industry, it was certainly the product that catapulted the industrial sector, since the first kerosene lamp1 in the 19th century the exploitation of hydrocarbon was gaining strength, but it was ultimately with the manufacture of the first cars with explosion engines in 1886 that gasoline became the leading product in the sector, a fact that revolutionized the mining-energy sector. (La Vanguardia, 2017) Currently, oil is the main engine of the Colombian economy as it is the main generator of external income, being the product with the greatest exportation, generating resources for the regions in the form of royalties and fiscal contributions favoring the execution of social investment projects. With the aspiration to increase crude oil production, we are now in a great debate, whether to continue with the current extractive model or implement new techniques that promise greater exploitation of it, such as fracking2.
