Summary:	This thesis was developed with the support of the Córdoba - Sucre Road Concession (CVCS), it identifies and analyzes the different factors that influence the success and failure of the project management in road infrastructure projects, based on the review of international literature and the realization of semi-structured interviews to the managers of the different areas of the concession. Success factors in the management of road infrastructure projects were identified as 1) ethics and values, 2) good communication and working together of all areas of the CVCS, 3) the clear definition of goals by the organization, 4) the commitment of the teamwork and 5) the good planning and control of the acquisitions. Failure factors were identified as 1) inadequate interrelation between personnel in different areas, 2) inadequate selection of staff and inadequate resources, 3) political environment, 4) inadequate environmental and land management. A brief comparison of the factors previously identified in the interviews with the factors found in the literature and in international standards was found, with matching success factors 1) Effective project control and monitoring, 2) Effective project planning, 3) Support of senior management, 4) Definition of clear goals by the organization; And regarding to the factors of failure 1) Inadequate management of change, 2) Inadequate risk management, 3) Inadequate community management, 4) Lack of teamwork, 5) Disagreement in designs. Finally, validation of the success and failure factors under the expert judgment method was obtained, the most influential factor in the success of project management is the good communication and collaborative work of all areas of the CVCS and the least influential is decentralized administration. The most influential factor in the failure of project management is inadequate environmental and land management, and the least influential is inadequate risk management.
