Logistic regression analysis and the Rogers and Tanimoto index were used to evaluate risk factors and clustering, respectively. There were 134 (32.6%) patients with polyautoimmunity. The most frequent and closer coexistent diseases were autoimmune thyroid disease (21.5%), rheumatoid arthritis (8.3%), systemic lupus erythematosus (7.6%), and inflammatory bowel disease (0.7%) which together constituted a cluster group. There were 35 (8.5%) patients with multiple autoimmune syndrome. Besides disease duration, a history of habitual smoking and spontaneous abortion were found to be risk factors for the developing of polyautoimmunity. This study discloses a high prevalence of polyautoimmunity in SS, its associated risk factors and the grouping pattern of such a condition. These results may serve to define plausible approaches to study the common mechanisms of autoimmune diseases. © 2012 Elsevier Ltd.application/pdfhttps://doi.org/10.1016/j.jaut.2012.05.0081095915708968411https://repository.urosario.edu.co/handle/10336/22253eng205No. 3199Journal of AutoimmunityVol. 39Journal of Autoimmunity, ISSN:10959157, 08968411, Vol.39, No.3 (2012); pp. 199-205https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-84865394612&doi=10.1016%2fj.jaut.2012.05.008&partnerID=40&md5=f2a4bdeb63cbec2d5cb1ec6bdff7b440Abierto (Texto Completo)http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2instname:Universidad del Rosarioreponame:Repositorio Institucional EdocURAdultAntiphospholipid syndromeArticleAutoimmune diseaseAutoimmune hepatitisAutoimmune thyroiditisCigarette smokingComorbidityCross-sectional studyDisease durationEnteritisFemaleHumanMajor clinical studyMaleMultiple sclerosisPernicious anemiaPrevalencePriority journalPsoriasisRheumatoid arthritisRisk factorSjoegren syndromeSpontaneous abortionSystemic lupus erythematosusSystemic sclerosisVasculitisVitiligoAdultAutoantibodiesCross-sectional studiesFemaleHumansInflammatory bowel diseasesMaleMiddle agedPregnancyRegression analysisRisk factorsSjogren's syndromeSmokingAbortionAutoimmune diseaseMultiple autoimmune syndromePolyautoimmunitySjögren's syndromeSmokingautoimmunerheumatoidspontaneoussystemicAbortionArthritisLupus erythematosusThyroiditisSjögren's syndrome at the crossroad of polyautoimmunityarticleArtículohttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501Amador-Patarroyo, Manuel J.Arbelaez, Juan GuillermoMantilla, Ruben D.Rodriguez-Rodriguez, AlbertoCárdenas-Roldán, JorgePineda-Tamayo, RicardoGuarin, Mayra R.Kleine, Liliana LopezRojas-Villarraga, AdrianaAnaya, Juan-ManuelORIGINAL1-s2-0-S0896841112000650-main.pdfapplication/pdf229793https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/3bb493e3-5ed7-4510-ae41-091417ea85e3/download92d4f548256ec3749855d32c382b2e82MD51TEXT1-s2-0-S0896841112000650-main.pdf.txt1-s2-0-S0896841112000650-main.pdf.txtExtracted texttext/plain42820https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/fe2e84ad-09a6-4552-8e4f-1fc3d4f22d8e/downloade43377f76367ac658119dde5a5ecdf9cMD52THUMBNAIL1-s2-0-S0896841112000650-main.pdf.jpg1-s2-0-S0896841112000650-main.pdf.jpgGenerated Thumbnailimage/jpeg4807https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/e7b93ed1-a55d-4bbf-ae7a-207036de42ff/downloadd222a0b057ed6ff3ae27b763ef5eb3f4MD5310336/22253oai:repository.urosario.edu.co:10336/222532022-05-02 07:37:13.771291https://repository.urosario.edu.coRepositorio institucional EdocURedocur@urosario.edu.co
