Biomass burning has in fact a critical importance for global biogeochemical cycles and for its interactions with the natural environment at all its hierarchical levels of organization. The scientific community calls for a better understanding of fires distribution and on its role as fundamental agent accompanying natural and anthropogenic processes of modification of the land environment, such as natural habitat conversion and landscape fragmentation. In the present work, after reviewing the main effects of fires on the environment, we proposed some methodologies to monitor and analyse fires at three different environmental scales (sub-continental, landscape, and ecosystem); we aim to emphasize the interrelationships between fires characteristics and land-cover, and investigate the role of biomass burning in accompanying the processes of modification of landscapes and ecosystemsapplication/pdfhttps://repository.urosario.edu.co/handle/10336/28606engEuropean Commission Joint Research CentreJRC Scientific and Technical ReportVol. EUR 22462JRC Scientific and Technical Report, Vol.EUR 22462 (2006)https://www.researchgate.net/publication/257016650_Monitoring_and_Assessing_Fire_Impacts_and_Land-cover_Change_in_Tropical_and_Subtropical_Ecosystems_Using_Satellite_Remote_Sensing_and_GIS_Techniques_JRC33036Abierto (Texto Completo)http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2JRC Scientific and Technical Reportinstname:Universidad del Rosarioreponame:Repositorio Institucional EdocURInvestigationFiresScientific communityGlobal biogeochemicalNatural environmentMonitoring and Assessing Fire Impacts and Land-cover Change in Tropical and Subtropical Ecosystems Using Satellite Remote Sensing and GIS TechniquesMonitoreo y evaluación de impactos de incendios y cambios en la cobertura terrestre en ecosistemas tropicales y subtropicales utilizando técnicas de teledetección por satélite y SIGbookPartParte de librohttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_3248Clerici, Nicola10336/28606oai:repository.urosario.edu.co:10336/286062021-11-21 20:24:58.819https://repository.urosario.edu.coRepositorio institucional EdocURedocur@urosario.edu.co
