Refractory Immunological Thrombocytopenia Purpura and Splenectomy in Pregnancy

Thrombocytopenia is defined as a platelet count of less than 100,000 platelets per microlitre (mcL). Thrombocytopenia develops in approximately 6-7% of women during pregnancy and at least 3% of these cases are caused by immunological platelet destruction. Herein, we present a pregnant woman who deve...

Thrombocytopenia develops in approximately 6-7% of women during pregnancy and at least 3% of these cases are caused by immunological platelet destruction. Herein, we present a pregnant woman who develops at the first trimester autoimmune thrombocytopenia purpura associated with positive antiphospholipid antibodies. The disease was refractory to pharmacological treatments but had a favourable response to splenectomy. The patient carried the pregnancy to term without complication and gave birth to a healthy baby girl.application/pdfhttps://doi.org/10.1155/2015/2163622090-66092090-6617https://repository.urosario.edu.co/handle/10336/24973engCase Reports in Immunology216362Case Reports in ImmunologyVol. 2015Case Reports in Immunology, ISSN: 2090-6609;2090-6617, Vol.2015, No. (2015); pp. 216362http://downloads.hindawi.com/journals/crii/2015/216362.pdfAbierto (Texto Completo)http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2instname:Universidad del Rosarioreponame:Repositorio Institucional EdocURThrombocytopeniaPregnancyImmunological platelet destructionPharmacological treatmentsRefractory Immunological Thrombocytopenia Purpura and Splenectomy in PregnancyarticleArtículohttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501Bernal-Macías, SantiagoFino-Velásquez, Laura-MarcelaVargas-Barato, Felipe EGuerra-Galue, LucioRojas-Villarraga, AdrianaReyes-Beltran, BenjaminORIGINAL216362.pdfapplication/pdf1283724https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/5e238311-a52d-4fd8-a977-f0488aace539/downloadef3a113a0a17e9ffa3f4adefd5ec08e3MD51TEXT216362.pdf.txt216362.pdf.txtExtracted texttext/plain17169https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/372caec0-181c-484a-95af-09d4d8490ce6/downloade3001b3f385c4ab0515e7449c70b0428MD52THUMBNAIL216362.pdf.jpg216362.pdf.jpgGenerated Thumbnailimage/jpeg4135https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/d12eb92f-d6c1-420f-8e5f-fdc2507f20d0/download4954e3fcedcdc1e8578ec651f3b17097MD5310336/24973oai:repository.urosario.edu.co:10336/249732021-06-03 00:50:51.485https://repository.urosario.edu.coRepositorio institucional EdocURedocur@urosario.edu.co
