Treatment of rheumatoid arthritis with methotrexate: A prospective open longterm study of 191 cases

One hundred and ninety-one patients with severe rheumatoid arthritis (RA) were included in a prospective open longterm study of the safety, efficacy and maintenance of methotrexate (MTX) treatment. The mean duration of MTX treatment was 19 +/- 13.2 (3-58) months; the mean weekly dose of MTX was 10.2...

Analysis of the 191 patients in an intent-to-treat manner showed a significant improvement of all the clinical variables and a decrease of erythrocyte sedimentation rate with a steroid sparing effect. The probability of continuing MTX therapy for up to 2 years was 65% and for up to 5 years was 46%. Adverse effects of MTX occurred in 37.1% of the patients, but only 15.7% discontinued MTX permanently.application/pdfISSN: 0315-162XEISSN: 1499-2752https://repository.urosario.edu.co/handle/10336/27135engEurope PMC1327No. 91323Journal of RheumatologyVol. 18Journal of Rheumatology, ISSN: 0315-162X;EISSN: 1499-2752, Vol.18, No.9 (31 Agosto 1991); pp.1323-1327https://europepmc.org/article/med/1757932Bloqueado (Texto referencial)http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_14cbJournal of Rheumatologyinstname:Universidad del Rosarioreponame:Repositorio Institucional EdocURSafetyEfficacyMaintenanceTreatment of rheumatoid arthritis with methotrexate: A prospective open longterm study of 191 casesTratamiento de la artritis reumatoide con metotrexato: un estudio prospectivo abierto a largo plazo de 191 casosarticleArtículohttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501Anaya, Juan-ManuelSany, J.Couret, M.Combe, B.Daures JP.10336/27135oai:repository.urosario.edu.co:10336/271352022-05-02 07:37:13.450353https://repository.urosario.edu.coRepositorio institucional EdocURedocur@urosario.edu.co
