Design/methodology/approach – The study covers the first five of the seven EBRS stages: first, identify relevant interventions; second, prepare evaluation questions; third, select evidence sources and implement a search strategy; fourth, appraise evidences and identify gaps; fifth, create an evaluation design to include an extensive literature review, followed by a mixed research method with surveys, focus groups and interviews; disaster risk modeling; georeferencing analysis; and engineering inspections. The last two stages: sixth, apply the evidence, and seventh, evaluate the evidence application, will be addressed in a near future. Findings – Even though the reference to “evidence”is frequent in the DRR field, it is largely based on descriptive processes, anecdotal references, best practices, lessons learned and case studies, and particularly deficient on the subject of informal and precariousness settlements. The evaluation allowed a deep and broad analysis of NA-DRR in urban informal settlements, comparing it with other DRR strategies implemented by different stakeholders in fragile urban settings, assessing the effectiveness and sustainability of the various DRR interventions. Originality/value – The abundant data, information and knowledge generated will serve as foundation for forthcoming thematic peer-reviewed publications informing evidence-based DRR research, policy and practice, with emphasis on informal and precariousness settlements in particularapplication/pdfhttps://doi.org/10.1108/dpm-08-2018-0263ISSN: 0965-3562EISSN: 1758-6100https://repository.urosario.edu.co/handle/10336/25899engEmerald385No. Issue 3371Disaster Prevention and Management An International JournalVol. 28Disaster Prevention and Management An International Journal, ISSN: 0965-3562 ; EISSN: 1758-6100, Vol.28, No.Issue 3 (2019-06-03); pp.371-385https://www.emerald.com/insight/content/doi/10.1108/DPM-08-2018-0263/full/pdf?title=an-evidence-based-urban-drr-strategy-for-informal-settlementsAbierto (Texto Completo)http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2Disaster Prevention and Management An International Journalinstname:Universidad del Rosarioreponame:Repositorio Institucional EdocUREvidence-basedDisaster risk reductionInformal settlementsUrban riskPrecariousnessLatin America and the CaribbeanAn evidence-based urban DRR strategy for informal settlementsUna estrategia de RRD urbana basada en evidencia para asentamientos informalesarticleArtículohttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501Sarmiento, Juan PabloPolak, SuzanneSandoval, VicenteORIGINAL10-1108_DPM-08-2018-0263.pdfapplication/pdf233491https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/58552234-7365-4d37-9629-f97272774752/download1a53a69d0b6565e71548e8fedc87141eMD51TEXT10-1108_DPM-08-2018-0263.pdf.txt10-1108_DPM-08-2018-0263.pdf.txtExtracted texttext/plain53517https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/37a29c8f-6d06-4203-a9e9-737d693afa0b/download55c710206d4a8375b4060ec7e6e1c2c8MD52THUMBNAIL10-1108_DPM-08-2018-0263.pdf.jpg10-1108_DPM-08-2018-0263.pdf.jpgGenerated Thumbnailimage/jpeg4660https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/34694159-d045-4718-b422-66f23a76f8da/download1f89692170ef203a6d98043cf57fdea1MD5310336/25899oai:repository.urosario.edu.co:10336/258992022-05-02 07:37:15.223237https://repository.urosario.edu.coRepositorio institucional EdocURedocur@urosario.edu.co |
