We find that uncertainty in the relationship between effort and catch increases extraction effort and accelerates resource depletion. Importantly, participants increase their extraction after a disadvantageous shock, but do not react to advantageous shocks. One possible explanation of this phenomenon is a self-serving bias. Price-responsive demand, relative to a fixed price setting, decreases extraction effort and increases efficiency. Price-responsive demand has a greater effect on students than on fishermen living inside a marine protected area, but fishermen outside this restricted area are very responsive to conditional pricing. © 2018, Springer Science+Business Media B.V., part of Springer Nature.application/pdfhttps://doi.org/10.1007/s10640-018-0241-09246460https://repository.urosario.edu.co/handle/10336/23948engSpringer Netherlands1153No. 41121Environmental and Resource EconomicsVol. 72Environmental and Resource Economics, ISSN:9246460, Vol.72, No.4 (2019); pp. 1121-1153https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-85043402339&doi=10.1007%2fs10640-018-0241-0&partnerID=40&md5=a369494aa5f3b7c05e035c9e0ec0ecc6Abierto (Texto Completo)http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2instname:Universidad del Rosarioreponame:Repositorio Institucional EdocURConservationCostsEconomicsFisheriesStochastic systemsArtisanal fisheriesDynamic resourcesField experimentLaboratory experimentsMarine protected areaOpen access fisheriesPrice responsive demandStochastic productionExtractionArtisanal fisheryCatch statisticsExperimental studyFishery productionFishing communityFishing effortLaboratory methodResource depletionStochasticityUncertainty analysisArtisanal fisheryDynamic resourceFramed field experimentStochastic production functionCatch Uncertainty and Reward Schemes in a Commons Dilemma: An Experimental StudyarticleArtículohttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501Hopfensitz A.Mantilla Ribero, César AndrésMiquel-Florensa J.10336/23948oai:repository.urosario.edu.co:10336/239482022-05-02 07:37:16.749203https://repository.urosario.edu.coRepositorio institucional EdocURedocur@urosario.edu.co |
