Summary:With the emergence of the United Nations Human Rights Council, the Universal Periodic Review was created for its operation, nowadays running the second examination round of it. This paper pretends to determine which criticisms gave origin to the mechanism with the aim of ascertaining its purpose. The foregoing in order to establish if the States' activities for the Review are in accordance with its function, therefor the Libyan, Sri Lankan, Sudanese and Malian case will be compared with the findings done by the International Criminal Court's Prosecutor Office in these situations. © 2015.
