Association study of polymorphisms in LRP1, tau and 5-HTT genes and Alzheimer's disease in a sample of Colombian patients

Analysis of genetic susceptibility factors for Alzheimer's disease (AD) in populations with different genetic and environmental background may be useful to understand AD etiology. There are few genetic association studies of AD in Latin America. In the present work, we analyzed polymorphisms in...

There are few genetic association studies of AD in Latin America. In the present work, we analyzed polymorphisms in 3 candidate genes; the LDL receptor related protein-1, the microtubule-associated protein Tau and the serotonin transporter genes in a sample of 106 Colombian AD patients and 97 control subjects. We did not find a significant allelic or genotypic association with any of the three polymorphisms analyzed using different statistical analysis, including a neural network model or different sample stratifications. To date, APOE polymorphisms are the only genetic risk factors identified for AD in the Colombian population. It may be factible that future combination of high-throughput genotyping platforms and multivariate analysis models may lead to the identification of other genetic susceptibility factors for AD in the Colombian population. © Springer-Verlag 2005.application/pdfhttps://doi.org/10.1007/s00702-005-0388-z3009564https://repository.urosario.edu.co/handle/10336/22408eng1262No. 91253Journal of Neural TransmissionVol. 113Journal of Neural Transmission, ISSN:3009564, Vol.113, No.9 (2006); pp. 1253-1262https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-33747873955&doi=10.1007%2fs00702-005-0388-z&partnerID=40&md5=28cb48c1fdbdcca35a6226a7697b028dAbierto (Texto Completo)http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2instname:Universidad del Rosarioreponame:Repositorio Institucional EdocURApolipoprotein ELow density lipoprotein receptor related protein 1ProteinSerotonin transporterTau proteinUnclassified drugAdultAgedAlleleAlzheimer diseaseArticleColombiaControlled studyDisease associationDNA polymorphismFemaleGenetic susceptibilityGenotypeHumanMajor clinical studyMaleMicrotubuleMultivariate analysisNerve cell networkPopulation researchPriority journalRisk factorSouth and Central AmericaStatistical analysisStratificationAgedAllelesAlzheimer DiseaseApolipoprotein E4ColombiaFemaleGene FrequencyGenotypeHumansLDL-Receptor Related Protein 1MaleMiddle AgedMinisatellite RepeatsReverse Transcriptase Polymerase Chain ReactionRisk FactorsSerotonin Plasma Membrane Transport ProteinsTau ProteinsAlzheimer's diseaseColombiaGenetic associationAssociation study of polymorphisms in LRP1, tau and 5-HTT genes and Alzheimer's disease in a sample of Colombian patientsarticleArtículohttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501Forero D.A.Arboleda G.Yunis J.J.Pardo R.Arboleda H.ORIGINALForero2006_Article_AssociationStudyOfPolymorphism.pdfapplication/pdf98373https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/1ae49c80-1bf1-43b0-b613-4b0d4eb47c68/download43c9c83121bcd69bf93eefc3142cd90fMD51TEXTForero2006_Article_AssociationStudyOfPolymorphism.pdf.txtForero2006_Article_AssociationStudyOfPolymorphism.pdf.txtExtracted texttext/plain40388https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/c50fe5d3-54bb-4b5e-ae87-069e61032165/downloadbd09026d9ed745ebf4907b6867780070MD52THUMBNAILForero2006_Article_AssociationStudyOfPolymorphism.pdf.jpgForero2006_Article_AssociationStudyOfPolymorphism.pdf.jpgGenerated Thumbnailimage/jpeg4430https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/7e061f7e-056d-4e9b-a030-4282ee1f3369/downloadb7d0f5b5c953967f1999cb8d524508fbMD5310336/22408oai:repository.urosario.edu.co:10336/224082022-05-02 07:37:20.424288https://repository.urosario.edu.coRepositorio institucional EdocURedocur@urosario.edu.co
