Methods: Several key opinion leaders from Latin America participated in a face-to-face meeting in Guatemala (April 2015) to discuss the use of opioids in CNOP. Subgroups of experts worked on specific topics, reviewed the literature and shaped the final manuscript. Results: The expert panel developed guidelines taking into consideration the utility of both opioid and nonopioid analgesics and factors pertaining to their efficacy, safety, adherence, administration and risks for abuse/addiction. Conclusion: Latin-American guidelines for the use of opioids in CNOP should improve pain relief and patients' quality of life by increasing access to these effective agents.application/pdfhttps://doi.org/10.2217/pmt-2016-00651758-18691758-1877https://repository.urosario.edu.co/handle/10336/24863engPain Management215No. 3207Pain ManagementVol. 7Pain Management, ISSN: 1758-1869;1758-1877, Vol.7, No.3 (2017-05); pp. 207-215https://www.futuremedicine.com/doi/pdf/10.2217/pmt-2016-0065Abierto (Texto Completo)http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2instname:Universidad del Rosarioreponame:Repositorio Institucional EdocURAnalgesicsOpioidChronic PainHumansLatin AmericaMedication AdherenceOpioid-Related DisordersPain ManagementQuality of LifeTreatment OutcomeLatin-American guidelines for opioid use in chronic nononcologic painarticleArtículohttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501Lara-Solares, ArgeliaAguayo Zamora, CarlosAmescua García, CésarGarcia, João Batista SantosBerenguel Cook, María Del RosarioBonilla Sierra, PatriciaCampos Kraychete, DurvalFlores Cantisani, José AlbertoGuerrero, CarlosGuillén Núñez, María Del RocíoHernández Ortíz, AndrésJreige Iskandar, AzizaLech, OsvandréMacías Guerra, JacquelineRamírez Samayoa, GerardoRangel Morillo, EdwinRico Pazos, María AntonietaSempértegui Gallegos, ManuelHernandez-Castro, John-JairoORIGINALpmt-2016-0065.pdfapplication/pdf1641529https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/ce794ce9-02d6-4bdb-a53c-1cc6ba5c3908/download98a03d1e7ca2d4b7dff31ab3f23d0c53MD51TEXTpmt-2016-0065.pdf.txtpmt-2016-0065.pdf.txtExtracted texttext/plain39290https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/edb8aaff-269e-4ddd-bd64-ee27803f9c14/downloada44faa7de29453c2407c0135fa607c34MD52THUMBNAILpmt-2016-0065.pdf.jpgpmt-2016-0065.pdf.jpgGenerated Thumbnailimage/jpeg4612https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/74d67fec-0268-40d8-95ef-010b4a97a965/download5046ab81ae3060fc17a01b4037928a0dMD5310336/24863oai:repository.urosario.edu.co:10336/248632021-06-03 00:50:49.147https://repository.urosario.edu.coRepositorio institucional EdocURedocur@urosario.edu.co
