112932566002020-04-22T03:17:15Z2020-04-22T03:17:15Z20142014Medical education has been the subject of ongoing debate since the early 1900s. The core of the discussion is about the importance of scientific knowledge on biological understanding at the expense of its social and humanistic characteristics. Unfortunately, reforms to the medical curriculum are still based on a biological vision of the health-illness process. In order to respond to the current needs of society, which is education's main objective, the learning processes of physicians and their instruction must change once again. The priority is the concept of the health-illness process that is primarily social and cultural, into which the biological and psychological aspects are inserted. A new curriculum has been developed that addresses a comprehensive instruction of the biological, psychological, social, and cultural (historical) aspects of medicine, with opportunities for students to acquire leadership, teamwork, and communication skills in order to introduce improvements into the healthcare systems where they work. © 2014 Quintero.application/pdfhttps://doi.org/10.1186/s12916-014-0213-31741-7015https://repository.urosario.edu.co/handle/10336/21731engNo. 1BMC MedicineVol. 12BMC Medicine, ISSN: 1741-7015 Vol. 12, No. 1 (2014)https://bmcmedicine.biomedcentral.com/track/pdf/10.1186/s12916-014-0213-3Abierto (Texto Completo)http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2instname:Universidad del Rosarioreponame:Repositorio Institucional EdocURHabilidad de comunicaciónPlan de estudiosPrograma educativoPolítica de saludSistema de cuidado de la saludPromoción de salud613600Communication skillCurriculumEducation programHealth careHealt care policyHealth care systemSistemas de saludPolítica de saludMedical education and the healthcare system - why does the curriculum need to be reformed?articleArtículohttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501Quintero Hernández, Gustavo AdolfoQuintero, Gustavo A.ORIGINALMedical_education_and_the_healthcare_system_why_does_the_curriculum_need_to_be_reformed.pdfapplication/pdf975117https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/6c83dd11-0de3-40a4-b81c-d7ddc930a493/downloadb6b707b735694821eda41517585f5ac3MD51TEXTMedical_education_and_the_healthcare_system_why_does_the_curriculum_need_to_be_reformed.pdf.txtMedical_education_and_the_healthcare_system_why_does_the_curriculum_need_to_be_reformed.pdf.txtExtracted texttext/plain20318https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/fcfa932b-b33c-4b49-8da9-9e68ab37d851/download87a25b7cbdcc07945293eccac586c594MD52THUMBNAILMedical_education_and_the_healthcare_system_why_does_the_curriculum_need_to_be_reformed.pdf.jpgMedical_education_and_the_healthcare_system_why_does_the_curriculum_need_to_be_reformed.pdf.jpgGenerated Thumbnailimage/jpeg4451https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/f7dea2d1-d5be-4297-9824-c8d39f2cfaea/downloadd5e323dcc6c57331252f5653d15a0400MD5310336/21731oai:repository.urosario.edu.co:10336/217312020-05-13 14:46:41.081https://repository.urosario.edu.coRepositorio institucional EdocURedocur@urosario.edu.co |
