Phylogenetic Discordance at the Specie Boundary: Comparative Gene Genealogies Among Rapidly Radiating Heliconius Butterlies

Recent adaptive radiations provide excellent model systems for understanding speciation, but rapid diversification can cause problems for phylogenetic inference. Here we use gene genealogies to investigate the phylogeny of recent speciation in the heliconiine butterflies. We sequenced three gene reg...

Here we use gene genealogies to investigate the phylogeny of recent speciation in the heliconiine butterflies. We sequenced three gene regions, intron 3 (?550 bp) of sex-linked triose-phosphate isomerase (Tpi), intron 3 (?450 bp) of autosomal mannose-phosphate isomerase (Mpi), and 1,603 bp of mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase subunits I and II (COI and COII), for 37 individuals from 25 species of Heliconius and related genera. The nuclear intron sequences evolved at rates similar to those of mitochondrial coding sequences, but the phylogenetic utility of introns was restricted to closely related geographic populations and species due to high levels of indel variation.application/pdfhttps://doi.org/10.1093/oxfordjournals.molbev.a004042ISSN: 0737-4038EISSN: 1537-1719https://repository.urosario.edu.co/handle/10336/26724engOxford University Press2190No. 22176Molecular Biology and EvolutionVol. 19Molecular Biology and Evolution, ISSN: 0737-4038; EISSN: 1537-1719, Vol.19, No.2 (2012); pp. 2176-2190https://watermark.silverchair.com/mbev_19_12_2176.pdf?token=AQECAHi208BE49Ooan9kkhW_Ercy7Dm3ZL_9Cf3qfKAc485ysgAAArgwggK0BgkqhkiG9w0BBwagggKlMIICoQIBADCCApoGCSqGSIb3DQEHATAeBglghkgBZQMEAS4wEQQMOekU-DaqznVh34TFAgEQgIICa6vTcoA2aGeuZgRwCq8KRlDBTBwTZLoTngSqHn-wJEF2c-d3CTTIS_SjPxSqkKgiXNIzreEQavg4Z1Ik0tH48fszpNbKah6AHpzd5YD9767tpqozeTPxzlOn8X1QlSY0j9F8KnwnWPGJXSaRiFTrO3IZ2pLuNRVWpUrDGqtLORH4TMU6YvUBhcUOQ41G45lZfuMt_ML8EIf4mtx6Yv_dcAeNI14Pcmy1Dbd0Hfp5Nc9DY4UtEGm21sQv4LCB5b7wUMVN09GUfkANtYPOrwMuX0M6CSe3Mhx3C4M_oS1d6lfvFds3lZIDmS11bx2wgNDNK9aIJGumg1W-PWBA7t3hDs0UXw9TPFjZq6m1PYuPEKLs80g7kuoPiJejs9EH3hJ_t5sN3SNvyKFD7MbQ6l15Vd2VzhsZrE0bCPtdSUMloRGDDA6YbzhRnFyIifL4_t-BxyV6ppjiwwxYnhwAJ7dO9EoxhqFsOHt3BLYCjKqXKSoCskcQoWLlyTZrQUldcH2FJWAf3M10Ha_M4DOxuffMJm6K2Ld6I-CZqWzhETCEnQ00mHmTpw7ai-ULt3zaTOMYAROlSu2CH-5NfCh0xdEcHqdGcYlFcAEAoA3CpITn1V9m3Z553MouA7ArYgMzkKzAIcce_WUvzt6jiUAXJ7903XQNq9BKhQr2ctG3Rjltwegvj3DWT8xsqFn_gqX-ZQgFi6UlCjGQ9X8Lpf1Q08jAG4wGxODLqsKamDWL3RkWklnE4tu9KsIXBBJwaDenSn50Z83FFsZgGlc_NpuenGjx8nj3PSU2kt748i9HcyHYLC84Zz-L_7gU5VYBX3wAbierto (Texto Completo)http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2Molecular Biology and Evolutioninstname:Universidad del Rosarioreponame:Repositorio Institucional EdocURCoalescenceHybridizationPhylogenyMitochondrial DNANuclear genesPhylogenetic Discordance at the Specie Boundary: Comparative Gene Genealogies Among Rapidly Radiating Heliconius ButterliesDiscordancia filogenética en el límite de la especie: genealogías comparativas entre mariposas Heliconius de rápida radiaciónarticleArtículohttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501Linares, MauricioBeltran, MargaritaBull, VanessaMallet, JamesBermingham, EldredgeOwen McMillan,WJiggins, Chris D10336/26724oai:repository.urosario.edu.co:10336/267242021-06-03 00:49:58.467https://repository.urosario.edu.coRepositorio institucional EdocURedocur@urosario.edu.co
