Methods: This cross-sectional study explores the results of 1,089 household interviews responded by mothers. Descriptive analyses and multivariate logistic regressions were conducted, with child sexual abuse regressed on parent-child interactions, children's characteristics, maternal characteristics, family characteristics, and community characteristics. Results: 1.2% of the mothers reported that their children had been sexually abused. Families that communicated with their children were less likely to report child sexual abuse, each additional standard deviation of communication reduced child sexual abuse 3.5 times. Affection and negative treatment to the children were not associated with child sexual abuse. Families who experienced intimate partner violence and violent communities were more likely to experience child sexual abuse. Conclusions: Interventions are needed to address the problem of child sexual abuse. © 2011 Elsevier Ltd.application/pdfhttps://doi.org/10.1016/j.chiabu.2011.10.0041452134https://repository.urosario.edu.co/handle/10336/23655eng1031No. 121022Child Abuse and NeglectVol. 35Child Abuse and Neglect, ISSN:1452134, Vol.35, No.12 (2011); pp. 1022-1031https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-83055186386&doi=10.1016%2fj.chiabu.2011.10.004&partnerID=40&md5=d7241f611932cea71895603c54db6559Abierto (Texto Completo)http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2instname:Universidad del Rosarioreponame:Repositorio Institucional EdocURAffectArticleChildChild parent relationChild sexual abuseColombiaCommunityCross-sectional studyDescriptive researchFamily sizeFemaleHouseholdHumanMajor clinical studyMaleMotherPartner violencePredictionPrevalenceSocial environmentAdolescentChildColombiaCommunicationCross-sectional studiesFemaleHumansLogistic modelsMaleParent-child relationsParentingChild abuseColombiaCommunicationParent-child relationsSexualsexualpreschoolChild abuseChildContextual predictive factors of child sexual abuse: The role of parent-child interactionarticleArtículohttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501Ramírez C.Pinzón Rondón, Ángela MaríaBotero J.C.ORIGINALContextual_predictive_factors_of_child_s.pdfapplication/pdf325686https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/b6d1f198-e8c1-4f05-9aee-c39c92c2e210/download01b4317abce9c6f9c308a4fe9de2edd4MD51TEXTContextual_predictive_factors_of_child_s.pdf.txtContextual_predictive_factors_of_child_s.pdf.txtExtracted texttext/plain50902https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/f488985a-9028-4464-bf07-c5730a63e974/download13c5a27b595bdac86fff5196750fe9a7MD52THUMBNAILContextual_predictive_factors_of_child_s.pdf.jpgContextual_predictive_factors_of_child_s.pdf.jpgGenerated Thumbnailimage/jpeg4406https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/a4cc6819-0110-47b2-a8f6-14fdeeb52cb1/downloadcc1740ffcfc40d650efff322b7fb64a6MD5310336/23655oai:repository.urosario.edu.co:10336/236552022-05-02 07:37:16.060555https://repository.urosario.edu.coRepositorio institucional EdocURedocur@urosario.edu.co
