A within-subject analysis of other-regarding preferences

We assess the predictive power of a model of other-regarding preferences-inequality aversion-using a within-subject design. We run four different experiments (ultimatum game, dictator game, sequential-move prisoners' dilemma and public-good game) with the same sample of subjects. We elicit two...

We run four different experiments (ultimatum game, dictator game, sequential-move prisoners' dilemma and public-good game) with the same sample of subjects. We elicit two parameters of inequality aversion to test several hypotheses across games. We find that within-subject tests can differ markedly from aggregate-level analyses. Inequality-aversion has predictive power at the aggregate level but performs less well at the individual level. The model seems to capture various behavioral motives in different games but the correlation of these motives is low within subjects. © 2010 Elsevier Inc.application/pdfhttps://doi.org/10.1016/j.geb.2010.09.0081090247308998256https://repository.urosario.edu.co/handle/10336/24117eng338No. 2321Games and Economic BehaviorVol. 72Games and Economic Behavior, ISSN:10902473, 08998256, Vol.72, No.2 (2011); pp. 321-338https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-79956364035&doi=10.1016%2fj.geb.2010.09.008&partnerID=40&md5=75dc2b5d28b0678c5258bef1e25d5c47Abierto (Texto Completo)http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2instname:Universidad del Rosarioreponame:Repositorio Institucional EdocURBehavioral economicsExperimental economicsInequality aversionOther-regarding preferencesA within-subject analysis of other-regarding preferencesarticleArtículohttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501Blanco, MarianaEngelmann, DirkNormann, Hans-Theo10336/24117oai:repository.urosario.edu.co:10336/241172022-05-02 07:37:14.922752https://repository.urosario.edu.coRepositorio institucional EdocURedocur@urosario.edu.co
