Human leukocyte antigen class II and type 1 diabetes in Latin America: A combined meta-analysis of association and family-based studies

By calculating the effect summary odds ratios (OR) and their 95% confidence intervals (95% CI), data up to June 2010 showed that risk associations were observed with DRB1*0301-DQA1*0501-DQB1*0201 (odds ratio [OR]: 7.51; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 3.69-15.25) and DQB1*0302 in presence of DRB1*0405 (OR: 11.64; 95% CI: 3.15-43.01) or DRB1*0401 (OR: 5.85; 95% CI: 3.07-11.14). In contrast, DRB1*0404-DQB1*0302 had a nonsignificant TID risk (OR: 2.23; 95% CI: 0.91-5.43). T1D protective associations were observed with DRB1*11-DQA1*0501-DQB1*0301 (OR: 0.24; 95% CI: 0.1-0.56) and DRB1*15-DQA1*0102-DQB1*0602 (OR: 0.35; 95% CI: 0.17-0.73). These results were similar to those observed in Caucasian and other populations, thus highlighting the primary role of class II HLA in T1D regardless of ethnicity. A DRB1*04 risk hierarchy was confirmed with the DRB1*0405 being in the top. A binding prediction analysis disclosed possible receptor-ligand interactions in the HLA-antigenic peptide complex. © 2011 American Society for Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics.application/pdfhttps://doi.org/10.1016/j.humimm.2011.03.0121988859https://repository.urosario.edu.co/handle/10336/24220eng586No. 7581Human ImmunologyVol. 72Human Immunology, ISSN:1988859, Vol.72, No.7 (2011); pp. 581-586https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-79958271443&doi=10.1016%2fj.humimm.2011.03.012&partnerID=40&md5=fcac38dbaf85c0527715707fcd9a88f7Abierto (Texto Completo)http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2instname:Universidad del Rosarioreponame:Repositorio Institucional EdocURHLA antigen class 2HLA DQB1 antigenHLA DR antigenArticleCaucasianDiabetogenesisEthnicityGene frequencyGenetic associationGenetic riskHaplotypeHispanicHumanInsulin dependent diabetes mellitusMeta analysisNucleotide sequencePriority journalProtein functionProtein protein interactionAllelesAmino Acid SequenceComputational BiologyEpitopesHaplotypesHistocompatibility Antigens Class IIHumansLatin AmericaPeptidesProtein BindingAutoimmunityHLA class IILatin AmericaMeta-analysisType 1 diabetesType 1Diabetes MellitusHuman leukocyte antigen class II and type 1 diabetes in Latin America: A combined meta-analysis of association and family-based studiesarticleArtículohttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501Cifuentes R.A.Rojas-Villarraga A.Anaya, Juan-ManuelORIGINALHuman_leukocyte_antigen_class_II_and_typ.pdfapplication/pdf640946https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/3fc60963-ed4c-495c-a255-4ab9fbcd63c7/download14f167f403fb4aba7e5ab2437a89eab2MD51TEXTHuman_leukocyte_antigen_class_II_and_typ.pdf.txtHuman_leukocyte_antigen_class_II_and_typ.pdf.txtExtracted texttext/plain27683https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/53ffd472-4823-4da4-8932-56efa594f1cb/download84f79077f6b0af4e5e5077bebbd71270MD52THUMBNAILHuman_leukocyte_antigen_class_II_and_typ.pdf.jpgHuman_leukocyte_antigen_class_II_and_typ.pdf.jpgGenerated Thumbnailimage/jpeg4780https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/a0742cb5-62eb-4a54-8b1b-e7a9f506a76d/download665306f13103933ca18660e606ccbc2fMD5310336/24220oai:repository.urosario.edu.co:10336/242202022-05-02 07:37:13.254539https://repository.urosario.edu.coRepositorio institucional EdocURedocur@urosario.edu.co |
