Summary:This article discusses actions taken by the international community, through the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (opcw) and the Security Council, about the threat that represents the fact that a Statelike Syria possess and used chemical weapons against its population as a violent reaction of the government of Syria, violating the most fundamental rules and principles of international law and international humanitarian law. However, we must recognize that on this occasion it was able to achieve a unanimous consensus among the members of the Security Council to impose a process of destruction of chemical weapons, materials and accessories that has the government of the Republic of Syria, through the Security Council Resolution 2118, avoiding to resort to the sanctions referred in the chapter VII of the United Nations Charter, prevailed by this way the international law and keep a military invasion off in Syria, a situation that was considered by the government of the United States
