The preoperative patient skin antisepsis, has recently gained greater significance in the prevention of SSI, as one of the critical factors, which can be intervened and can reduce the risk of infection. In recent years, comprehensive investigations have been published, not only dedicated to the comparison of antiseptic solutions, application techniques, but also about the importance of preoperative washing, use of surgical tapes and dressings impregnated with antiseptics, and preoperative shaving. This review outlines the key findings related to the preoperative patient's skin antisepsis and offers a protocol with practical recommendations to be implemented in the institutions of our country. It provides evidence based recommendations about the use of antiseptic solutions (povidone iodine, chlorhexidine, chlorhexidine plus alcohol, etc.) with emphasis on the advantages and disadvantages of each one.application/pdf10.22354/in.v0i0.7040123-9392http://repository.urosario.edu.co/handle/10336/19091eng5446InfectioVol. 22Infectio, ISSN:1239-392, Vol. 22 (2018) pp. 46-54http://www.scielo.org.co/pdf/inf/v22n1/0123-9392-inf-22-01-00046.pdfAbierto (Texto Completo)http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2Yasunaga, H., Ide, H., Imamura, T., Ohe, K., Accuracy of economic studies on surgical site infection (2007) J Hosp Infect, 65, pp. 102-107instname:Universidad del Rosarioreponame:Repositorio Institucional EdocURAntiinfective AgentAntisepsisHand WashingHealth Care PersonnelHumanInfection PreventionPatient SafetyPreoperative CareReviewSkin DecontaminationSkin IncisionSurgical InfectionFarmacología & terapéutica615600AntisépticosAsepsia y antisepsiaPersonal de saludPractical recommendations for preoperative skin antisepsisarticleArtículohttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501Álvarez, Carlos ArturoGuevara, Cesar ErnestoValderrama, Sandra LilianaSefair, Carlos FernandoCortes, Jorge AlbertoJimenez, María FernandaSoria, Carmen GabrielaCuellar, Luis ErnestoÁlvarez, Carlos ArturoGuevara, Cesar ErnestoValderrama, Sandra LilianaSefair, Carlos FernandoCortes, Jorge AlbertoJimenez, María FernandaSoria, Carmen GabrielaCuellar, Luis ErnestoORIGINAL115.pdfapplication/pdf1245982https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/83e4f089-33be-4b05-af8c-369350954514/downloadf72205346242eaab117288b35c8e44a5MD51TEXT115.pdf.txt115.pdf.txtExtracted texttext/plain49793https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/abecb1ff-7236-4a9a-ae1a-06d3bc42d2ff/downloade38c0a781ceb01b59f6ad94a62aea34cMD52THUMBNAIL115.pdf.jpg115.pdf.jpgGenerated Thumbnailimage/jpeg4371https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/3dc26143-8ab3-4265-bd6e-405f09b18df0/download06b2cff8550915d42b943b2b10b5da0bMD5310336/19091oai:repository.urosario.edu.co:10336/190912019-09-19 07:37:54.609585https://repository.urosario.edu.coRepositorio institucional EdocURedocur@urosario.edu.co
