Lack of association between TNF-308 polymorphism and the clinical and immunological characteristics of systemic lupus erythematosus and primary Sjogren's syndrome

To investigate the previously reported association of tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF) -308 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) with the clinical coarse and immunological features in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and primary Sjogren's syndrome (pSS).Methods The studied grou...

TNF -308 SNP was determined by the polymerase chain reactioin-restriction fragment length polymorphism technique. Clinical and immunological characteristics were assessed according to a standard protocol that included disease activity (SLEDAI) and damage (SLICC Damage Index). Serum TNF alpha levels were measared in samples collected from 32 patients with SLE and 16 with pSS by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results The TNF2 allele (A) was observed in 46% and 54% of SLE and pSS patients, respectively. We failed to find any significant association between the -308 SNP and disease manifestations, the presence of antoantibodies or cytokine levels in either group. Conclusion TNF -308 SNP (TNF2) does not exhibit a significant influence on the disease course or immunological response in SLE and pSS. Other genetic and/or environmental factors seem to be required and to be more important than TNF2 allele for the progression of these diseases.application/pdf0392-856X1593-098Xhttps://repository.urosario.edu.co/handle/10336/24854engPacini Editore SpA344No. 3339CLINICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL RHEUMATOLOGYVol. 23CLINICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL RHEUMATOLOGY, ISSN:0392-856X ; 1593-098X, Vol.23, No.3 (2005); pp. 339-344Bloqueado (Texto referencial)http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_14cbinstname:Universidad del Rosarioreponame:Repositorio Institucional EdocURfactor de necrosis tumoralpolimorfismosíndrome de Sjogren primariolupus eritematoso sistémicoFactor de necrosis tumoralPromotor Tnf-alfaEsclerosis múltiplePolimorfismos de genesCitocinas Th1 / th2Glándulas salivalesSusceptibilidadExpresiónEnfermedadSletumor necrosis factorpolymorphismprimary Sjogren's syndromesystemic lupus erythematosusTumor-necrosis-factorTnf-alpha promoterMultiple-sclerosisGene polymorphismsTh1/th2 cytokinesSalivary-glandsSusceptibilityExpressionDiseaseSleLack of association between TNF-308 polymorphism and the clinical and immunological characteristics of systemic lupus erythematosus and primary Sjogren's syndromearticleArtículohttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501Tobon, GJCorrea, PAGomez, LMAnaya, Juan-Manuel10336/24854oai:repository.urosario.edu.co:10336/248542021-08-06 11:49:37.103https://repository.urosario.edu.coRepositorio institucional EdocURedocur@urosario.edu.co
