Description
Summary:In the knowledge society there is a close relationship between scientific and technological development and innovation in the country. This article seeks to establish whether Colombia is ready to enter this new society. After comparing several methods for assessing knowledge and innovation, the World Bank, and INSEAD, it appears that Colombia is still far from reaching levels above the world average in scientific and technological development and strategic innovation. This situation is expected to be reversed due to the policies and strategies adopted by the Colombian government, to include science, technology and innovation as one of the drivers of the National Development Plan 2010-2014. © 2013 Universidad ICESI.
