El estatus ontológico del color ha sido un asunto que ha ocupado la agenda de varios pensadores a lo largo del tiempo, y que ha sido debatido desde diferentes posturas filosóficas. En el debate reciente se resaltan las posturas del subjetivismo neurofisiológico y el objetivismo computacional, en los que se discute si el color es una propiedad del mundo o es una proyección de la mente. Pese a que parecen posiciones antagónicas, ambos polos del debate conservan un núcleo común en el que coinciden en la formulación de un modelo funcionalista que da cuenta del proceso perceptivo. La percepción, según dicho modelo funcionalista, se explica como un proceso de representaciones internas derivada de inputs de información del ambiente y outputs de acción del sujeto, en donde es netamente el cerebro el que interpreta las señales recibidas del entorno. La consecuencia de este modelo funcionalista, y del debate sobre la ontología del color, es la separación del sujeto del mundo, y la eliminación del color o bien del sujeto (objetivismo) o bien del mundo (subjetivismo). En este sentido, el objetivo de esta tesis es redefinir el estatus ontológico del color a partir de la teoría enactiva para desdibujar la barrera entre sujeto y mundo sobre una perspectiva ecológica-relacional de la percepción, que considera la intrincada relación de los agentes-animales y el nicho en el que habitan. |

En el debate reciente se resaltan las posturas del subjetivismo neurofisiológico y el objetivismo computacional, en los que se discute si el color es una propiedad del mundo o es una proyección de la mente. Pese a que parecen posiciones antagónicas, ambos polos del debate conservan un núcleo común en el que coinciden en la formulación de un modelo funcionalista que da cuenta del proceso perceptivo. La percepción, según dicho modelo funcionalista, se explica como un proceso de representaciones internas derivada de inputs de información del ambiente y outputs de acción del sujeto, en donde es netamente el cerebro el que interpreta las señales recibidas del entorno. La consecuencia de este modelo funcionalista, y del debate sobre la ontología del color, es la separación del sujeto del mundo, y la eliminación del color o bien del sujeto (objetivismo) o bien del mundo (subjetivismo). En este sentido, el objetivo de esta tesis es redefinir el estatus ontológico del color a partir de la teoría enactiva para desdibujar la barrera entre sujeto y mundo sobre una perspectiva ecológica-relacional de la percepción, que considera la intrincada relación de los agentes-animales y el nicho en el que habitan.The ontological status of color has been an issue that has occupied the agenda of various thinkers over time and has been debated from different philosophical positions. In the recent debate, neurophysiological subjectivism and computational objectivism are two different perspectives that discuss if color is a property of the world or a projection of the mind. Although they appear to be antagonistic positions, both poles of the debate maintain a common nucleus in which they coincide in the formulation of a functionalist model that accounts for the perceptual process. According to the functionalist model, perception is a process of internal representations derived from information inputs from the environment and action outputs from the subject, where it is the brain that interprets the signals received from the environment. The consequence of the functionalist model, plus the debate on the ontology of color, is the separation of the subject from the world, and the elimination of color either from the subject (objectivism) or from the world (subjectivism).
