Rheumatoid pericarditis: New immunopathological aspects

Rheumatoid pericarditis (RP) is a well known extraarticular manifestation of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). It is not frequently diagnosed despite its high reported prevalence in post-mortem studies. There have been no immunohistological studies of its presence in pericardial membranes. Here we report a...

It is not frequently diagnosed despite its high reported prevalence in post-mortem studies. There have been no immunohistological studies of its presence in pericardial membranes. Here we report a complete immunohistological study of two RA patients with RP complications, using a panel of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) for the recognition of B, T, and NK cells. Both cases showed strong and almost exclusive pericardial membrane infiltration of CD8+ T-cells which was correlated with a higher than expected similar increase in the subset of peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL). These findings suggest an important role for CD8+ T-cells in chronic RA, especially in this extraarticular manifestation of the disease.application/pdfISSN: 0392-856XEISSN: 1593-098Xhttps://repository.urosario.edu.co/handle/10336/26907engEurope PMC316No. 3313Clinical and Experimental RheumatologyVol. 12Clinical and Experimental Rheumatology, ISSN: 0392-856X; EISSN: 1593-098X, Vol.12, No.3 (1994);pp. 313-316https://europepmc.org/article/med/8070167Bloqueado (Texto referencial)http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_14cbClinical and Experimental Rheumatologyinstname:Universidad del Rosarioreponame:Repositorio Institucional EdocURRheumatoid pericarditisImmunohistologicRheumatoid pericarditis: New immunopathological aspectsPericarditis reumatoide: nuevos aspectos inmunopatológicosarticleArtículohttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501Anaya, Juan-ManuelEncinoza, TravaglioSAny, J.Réme T.10336/26907oai:repository.urosario.edu.co:10336/269072021-08-10 17:08:39.789https://repository.urosario.edu.coRepositorio institucional EdocURedocur@urosario.edu.co
