Vitamin D insufficiency in adults patients with low bone mass and osteoporosis in the Fundación Santa Fe de Bogotá 2008-2009

The prevalence varies from 11–70% in different populations. Due osteoporosis is a common disease, we determined the prevalence of hypovitaminosis D associated with bone demineralization in FSFB population evaluated between August 2008 and July 2009, we reviewed age, gender, T-Score, Z-score. Values between 32–150 ng/ml were considered as normal. We found 460 25OHD results, 105 subjects with mineral density for DXA method, 80% female. Mean age for women was 66 years (SD ± 12.5, range 39–91) for women was 67.1 years (SD ± 12.2, range 39–91) for men was 61 years (SD ± 10.7, range 42–82). Mean 25OHD levels were 31 ng / ml (SD ± 17.6, range 8.2 to 110), for women 30.5 ng / mL (SD ± 16.1, range 10.6 to 96 ng / mL), for men 33.5 ng / mL (SD ± 23.4, range 8.2 to 110 ng / mL). 69,5% of cases were considered as vitamin D insufficiency, 45,7% mild, 23,8% moderate, and no cases of severe déficit. No significant difference between 25OHD concentrations and gender, or age were considered. Osteoporosis was correlated with 25OHD levels below 28 ng/ml (P=0,046) but not between low 25OHD and subjects with osteopenia. The vitamin D deficiency is highly prevalent in patients with osteoporosis and low bone mass and should be evaluated in the context of osteoporosis. © 2010 Asociación Colombiana de Reumatologíaapplication/pdfhttps://doi.org/10.1016/S0121-8123(10)70068-20121812320279000https://repository.urosario.edu.co/handle/10336/23067engAsociacion Colombiana de Reumatologia218No. 4212Revista Colombiana de ReumatologiaVol. 17Revista Colombiana de Reumatologia, ISSN:01218123, 20279000, Vol.17, No.4 (2010); pp. 212-218https://www.scopus.com/inward/record.uri?eid=2-s2.0-85025711284&doi=10.1016%2fS0121-8123%2810%2970068-2&partnerID=40&md5=89959a51185d501025de17c33e1d6e5eAbierto (Texto Completo)http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_abf2instname:Universidad del Rosarioreponame:Repositorio Institucional EdocUR25 hydroxyvitamin DAdultAgedArticleBone demineralizationBone densityBone massCorrelational studyDisease associationDisease severityDual energy X ray absorptiometryFemaleHumanMajor clinical studyMaleNormal valueOsteopeniaOsteoporosisPrevalenceVitamin D deficiencyLow bone densityOsteopeniaOsteoporosisVitamina DVitamin D insufficiency in adults patients with low bone mass and osteoporosis in the Fundación Santa Fe de Bogotá 2008-2009Insuficiencia de vitamina D en pacientes adultos con baja masa ósea y osteoporosis en la Fundación Santa Fe de Bogotá 2008–2009articleArtículohttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501Devia, Deyanira GonzálezLibreros, Claudia ZúñigaCalderón, William KattahORIGINALv17n4a03.pdfapplication/pdf473299https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/7bb7b04e-016b-4599-a1d2-0a6161926182/download80f77b25065c1e022dcfaf53f3b5a986MD51TEXTv17n4a03.pdf.txtv17n4a03.pdf.txtExtracted texttext/plain24846https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/dbb43e7e-4595-4997-be9c-b8ae21a939ca/downloaddb44ec95fa08415509c668468b80ea60MD52THUMBNAILv17n4a03.pdf.jpgv17n4a03.pdf.jpgGenerated Thumbnailimage/jpeg4771https://repository.urosario.edu.co/bitstreams/376cf03f-9bc7-4e6d-8cf4-00ca9627e582/downloadedc5ab8893e2a89a8982488678b8c8c3MD5310336/23067oai:repository.urosario.edu.co:10336/230672022-05-02 07:37:14.449781https://repository.urosario.edu.coRepositorio institucional EdocURedocur@urosario.edu.co
