Short- and long-term effects of calcitonin and calcium administration on blood calcium, magnesium and inorganic phosphorus in post menopausal osteoporosis
This paper studies the effects of the administration of calcitonin (CT) and Ca on post menopausal osteoporosis, immediately (short-term) and after three months (long-term) of treatment, on total and ionic calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), inorganic phosphorus (Pi), calcitonin (CT) and parathyroid hormon...

The short-term results show a decrease in total and ionic Ca and Pi four hours after the beginning of the treatment; at seven hours, only Pi varies. A decrease in the total and ionic Ca was observed after three months of CT treatment (long-term effects). No hormonal (PTH and CT) variations were found either in the short or the long-term. However, the PTH/CT ratio decreased significantly during the experiment and this may be an important factor in explaining the long-term Ca variations.application/pdfhttps://doi.org/10.1016/S0946-672X(11)80045-3ISSN: 0946-672Xhttps://repository.urosario.edu.co/handle/10336/26946engElsevier184No. 3181Journal of Trace Elements in Medicine and BiologyVol. 9Journal of Trace Elements in Medicine and Biology, ISSN: 0946-672X, Vol.9, No.3 (October, 1995); pp. 181-184https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0946672X11800453Restringido (Acceso a grupos específicos)http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_16ecJournal of Trace Elements in Medicine and Biologyinstname:Universidad del Rosarioreponame:Repositorio Institucional EdocUROsteoporosisCalcitoninMineral metabolismManShort- and long-term effects of calcitonin and calcium administration on blood calcium, magnesium and inorganic phosphorus in post menopausal osteoporosisEfectos a corto y largo plazo de la administración de calcitonina y calcio sobre el calcio, magnesio y fósforo inorgánico en sangre en la osteoporosis posmenopáusicaarticleArtículohttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501Casao, E.Elósegui, L.M.Ibáñez, M.A.Vidal, M.D.Cervera, P.Escanero, J.F.10336/26946oai:repository.urosario.edu.co:10336/269462022-05-02 07:37:13.456018https://repository.urosario.edu.coRepositorio institucional EdocURedocur@urosario.edu.co |
