By 2000, Colombia was the third largest recipient of U.S. foreign aid worldwide, surpassed only by Israel and Egypt.2 Between fiscal years 2000 and 2008, U.S. economic and military aid exceeded $6 billion.3 For several years the U.S. embassy in Bogotá hosted the largest U.S. diplomatic mission in the world, until overtaken by Baghdad in the years following the 2003 U.S. military invasion. At a 2009 White House ceremony scarcely seven days before leaving office, President George W. Bush bestowed on Colombian president Álvaro Uribe the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest U.S. civilian honor. The award was given, said Bush, in recognition of exemplary achievement, and to convey the utmost esteem of the people and the president of the United States.4application/pdfhttps://doi.org/10.4324/9780203850473EISBN: 9780203850473https://repository.urosario.edu.co/handle/10336/28750engRoutledgeContemporary U.S.-Latin American Relations: Cooperation or Conflict in the 21st Century?Contemporary U.S.-Latin American Relations: Cooperation or Conflict in the 21st Century?, EISBN: 9780203850473, Chapter 9 (2010); 33 pp.https://www.taylorfrancis.com/books/e/9780203850473Restringido (Acceso a grupos específicos)http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_16ecContemporary U.S.-Latin American Relations: Cooperation or Conflict in the 21st Century?instname:Universidad del Rosarioreponame:Repositorio Institucional EdocURLatin America scholarsInter-American relationsColombiaUnited StatesColombia and the United States: strategic partners or uncertain allies?Colombia y Estados Unidos: ¿socios estratégicos o aliados inciertos?bookPartParte de librohttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_3248Arnson, Cynthia J.Tickner, Arlene Beth10336/28750oai:repository.urosario.edu.co:10336/287502021-10-29 15:47:35.767https://repository.urosario.edu.coRepositorio institucional EdocURedocur@urosario.edu.co
