It explores the principles that have sustained the ‘war on drugs’ and the evolution of Colombian-US relations since 1998, providing an overall assessment of the anti-drug strategy that helps to analyse the possibilities of desecuritization in the light of the Copenhagen school’s securitization theory. Finally, the chapter identifies the challenges that drug policy reform currently faces in Colombia and Latin America more generally.application/pdfhttps://doi.org/10.1057/978-1-137-57382-7_13ISBN: 978-1-137-57382-7https://repository.urosario.edu.co/handle/10336/26436engPalgrave Macmillan318295Power Dynamics and Regional Security in Latin AmericaPower Dynamics and Regional Security in Latin America, ISBN: 978-1-137-57382-7 (2017); pp.295-318https://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1057%2F978-1-137-57382-7_13Restringido (Acceso a grupos específicos)http://purl.org/coar/access_right/c_16ecPower Dynamics and Regional Security in Latin Americainstname:Universidad del Rosarioreponame:Repositorio Institucional EdocURWar on drugsCounternarcoticsAnti-drugDesecuritizing the 'war on drugs'Desecuritizar la 'guerra contra las drogas'bookPartParte de librohttp://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_3248Másmela C.C.Tickner, Arlene Beth10336/26436oai:repository.urosario.edu.co:10336/264362021-10-27 16:43:43.05https://repository.urosario.edu.coRepositorio institucional EdocURedocur@urosario.edu.co
