description El virus del parvovirus canino es una enfermedad altamente contagiosa y mortal para los caninos, con una mayor casuística clínica en pacientes entre las 2 semanas y los 6 meses de edad, no hay una prevalencia en cuento al sexo, pero si en cuanto a las razas que este virus puede afectar como son el Rottweiler, Pitbull, Doberman y Golden Retriever. Los principales signos clínicos que se pueden evidenciar en el animal es temperatura alta de 40° a 41°, fiebre, diarrea sanguinolenta, vomito, decaimiento, entre otros. Se debe buscar el mejor método diagnóstico para realizar en pacientes con síntomas gastroentéricos por medio de un cuadro hemático para observar glóbulos blancos, glóbulos rojos y plaquetas o pruebas de laboratorio como son hemaglutinación fecal y de látex, Inhibición de la hemaglutinación, PCR, inmunocromatografia, inmunohistoquímica, aislamiento viral y ELISA para identificar por medio de las Inmunoglobulinas la fase y el progreso de la infección, no hay un tratamiento específico para esta enfermedad pero si para los signos clínicos secundarios o enfermedades oportunistas y su prevención principalmente es por vacunación en las primeras etapas de vida del animal.
