Suicide and its attempts make up one of the relevant problems of current public health Objective: To describe the relationship between school adjustment and suicidal ideation in school adolescents. The main risk factors and protective factors in suicidal ideation were identified, and the relationship between variables was determined. Methodology: Descriptive correlational study, through stratified probabilistic sampling, 413 students from 6th to 11th grade were selected. The instruments evaluated suicidal ideation and school adjustment. Bayesian Inference and Machine Learning techniques were used in order to model the behavior of the different instruments. Octave was used as a computational support tool. Results: A negative correlation of school adjustment and suicidal ideation was found. Adolescents may develop a suicidal ideation as a consequence of the following factors: poor school performance 52 %, low academic expectations 27 %, and problems with school integration in 68 %. Conclusions: Adolescents with high levels of suicidal ideation may be related to low levels of school adjustment. The adolescent, feeling isolated, unable to establish friendship bonds between peers and poor school performance, will tend to look for negative exits or escapes such as suicidal ideation. |

Objetivo: describir la relación entre ajuste escolar e ideación suicida en adolescentes escolarizados. Se identificaron los principales factores de riesgo y factores protectores en la ideación suicida, y se determinó la relación entre variables. Metodología: estudio descriptivo correlacional, a través de muestreo probabilístico estratificado se seleccionaron 413 estudiantes de 6° a 11° grado. Los instrumentos evaluaron ideación suicida y ajuste escolar. Se utilizaron técnicas de inferencia bayesiana y aprendizaje de máquina con el objetivo de modelar el comportamiento de los diferentes instrumentos. Se utilizó Octave como herramienta computacional de apoyo. Resultados: se encontró una correlación negativa de ajuste escolar e ideación suicida. Los adolescentes pueden desarrollar una ideación suicida como consecuencia de los siguientes factores: bajo rendimiento escolar, 52 %; bajas expectativas académicas, 27 %; problemas de integración escolar, 68 %.Conclusiones: adolescentes con altos niveles de ideación suicida pueden estar relacionados con bajos niveles de ajuste escolar. El adolescente con incapacidad de establecer lazos de amistad entre compañeros, que se siente aislado y tiene mal desempeño escolar podrá buscar salidas o escapes negativos como pueden ser la ideación suicida.O suicídio e suas tentativas constituem um dos problemas relevantes da saúde pública atual. Objetivo: Descrever a relação entre ajustamento escolar e ideação suicida em adolescentes escolares. Foram identificados os principais fatores de risco e fatores de proteção na ideação suicida e determinada a relação entre as variáveis. Metodologia: Estudo descritivo correlacional, por meio de amostragem probabilística estratificada, selecionados 413 alunos do 6º ao 11º ano. Os instrumentos avaliaram a ideação suicida e a adaptação escolar. Técnicas de inferência bayesiana e aprendizado de máquina foram usadas para modelar o comportamento dos diferentes instrumentos. O Octave foi usado como uma ferramenta de suporte computacional. Resultados: Foi encontrada uma correlação negativa de ajustamento escolar e ideação suicida. Os adolescentes podem desenvolver uma ideação suicida como consequência dos seguintes fatores: mau desempenho escolar 52%, baixas expectativas acadêmicas 27% e problemas de integração escolar em 68%. Conclusões: Adolescentes com altos níveis de ideação suicida podem estar relacionados a baixos níveis de ajustamento escolar.
