Introducción: El cáncer es una enfermedad que se genera en algunas células del cuerpo, que se proliferan y diseminan atacando órganos y tejidos. Puede surgir en cualquier parte del cuerpo y a cualquier edad, las causas son distintas en cada caso, y, los factores de riesgo se relacionan a exposición a sustancias nocivas o radiación, o bien, herencia genética. Existen varias opciones convencionales de tratamiento a esta enfermedad; como la quimioterapia, la cirugía, radioterapia, inmunoterapia y terapia dirigida. También existe el tratamiento alternativo u homeopático, cuya base teórica y práctica es abordar la enfermedad desde lo emocional o espiritual. Cuál fuere el tratamiento, el paciente atraviesa un afrontamiento al mismo, entendiéndolo cómo los recursos emocionales y cognitivos para hacer frente a la enfermedad. Objetivo: El objetivo de la investigación es analizar las estrategias de afrontamiento en pacientes diagnosticados con cáncer bajo tratamiento de medicina alternativa y en pacientes con tratamiento de medicina convencional. Metodología: Este estudio cuantitativo y observacional comparativo se realizará con la aplicación y evaluación del inventario de estrategias de afrontamiento (CSI) de Lazarus & Folkman (1984). A 30 pacientes oncológicos; 15-en tratamiento convencional en la clínica y 15 en tratamiento alternativo en un consultorio privado. |

It can arise in any part of the body and at any age, the causes are different in each case, and the risk factors are related to exposure to harmful substances or radiation, or genetic inheritance. There are several conventional treatment options for this disease; such as chemotherapy, surgery, radiotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapy. There is also alternative or homeopathic treatment, whose theoretical and practical basis is to approach the disease from an emotional or spiritual perspective. Whatever the treatment, the patient goes through coping with it, understanding it as the emotional and cognitive resources to cope with the disease. Objective: The objective of the research is to analyze coping strategies in patients diagnosed with cancer under alternative medicine treatment and in patients with conventional medicine treatment.
