description Introducción: El VIH es considerado a nivel global como un problema de salud pública, a lo largo de los años se ha incrementado el número de casos y muertes por esta causa, al igual que por las deficiencias existentes en el servicio en salud a personas que viven con esta afección. Objetivos: Describir las barreras para el acceso del diagnóstico y tratamiento de personas que viven con VIH. Metodología: Se realizó revisión narrativa, en donde se plantearon criterios de inclusión y exclusión, variables, descriptores y fórmulas clave para llevar a cabo la búsqueda de los artículos en español, inglés y portugués, por medio de las bases de datos de la Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia y bases de datos externas, dichos artículos fueron seleccionados y organizados en Excel para su posterior análisis. Resultados: En el análisis de los datos se tomaron en cuenta 40 artículos, en donde el género predominante fue el masculino (51.3% y 68.6%), el grupo etario más encontrado fue entre los 25 y 50 años. La orientación sexual sobresaliente fue la heterosexual (63%-95%), al igual que la mayoría de población estudiada se encontraba casada (22% y 98.7%). Entre las barreras más importantes se encontró el estrato socioeconómico bajo, falta de promoción de la prueba diagnóstica, temor a un resultado positivo, estigma por parte del personal sanitario, falta de adherencia al tratamiento, miedo por la divulgación del estado serológico y baja autopercepción de estar enfermo. Conclusiones: Se evidenció que el estigma y los costos de bolsillo influyen significativamente en la decisión de las personas que viven con VIH para acceder a los servicios sanitarios, debido al temor por la vulneración de su privacidad; de la misma manera se encontró que las barreras para acceder al diagnóstico y tratamiento del VIH implican el entorno físico, social y familiar de las personas que viven con esta afección.

Objetivos: Describir las barreras para el acceso del diagnóstico y tratamiento de personas que viven con VIH. Metodología: Se realizó revisión narrativa, en donde se plantearon criterios de inclusión y exclusión, variables, descriptores y fórmulas clave para llevar a cabo la búsqueda de los artículos en español, inglés y portugués, por medio de las bases de datos de la Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia y bases de datos externas, dichos artículos fueron seleccionados y organizados en Excel para su posterior análisis. Resultados: En el análisis de los datos se tomaron en cuenta 40 artículos, en donde el género predominante fue el masculino (51.3% y 68.6%), el grupo etario más encontrado fue entre los 25 y 50 años. La orientación sexual sobresaliente fue la heterosexual (63%-95%), al igual que la mayoría de población estudiada se encontraba casada (22% y 98.7%). Entre las barreras más importantes se encontró el estrato socioeconómico bajo, falta de promoción de la prueba diagnóstica, temor a un resultado positivo, estigma por parte del personal sanitario, falta de adherencia al tratamiento, miedo por la divulgación del estado serológico y baja autopercepción de estar enfermo. Conclusiones: Se evidenció que el estigma y los costos de bolsillo influyen significativamente en la decisión de las personas que viven con VIH para acceder a los servicios sanitarios, debido al temor por la vulneración de su privacidad; de la misma manera se encontró que las barreras para acceder al diagnóstico y tratamiento del VIH implican el entorno físico, social y familiar de las personas que viven con esta afección.Introduction: HIV is considered a global public health problem, and over the years the number of HIV cases and deaths has increased, as well as deficiencies in health services for people living with HIV. Objectives: To describe the barriers to access to diagnosis and treatment for people living with HIV. Methodology: A narrative review was conducted, in which inclusion and exclusion criteria, variables, descriptors and key formulas were used to search for articles in Spanish, English and Portuguese, using the databases of the Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia and external databases. These articles were selected and organised in Excel for subsequent analysis. Results: For the analysis of the data, 40 articles were taken into account, where the predominant gender was male (51.3% and 68.6%), and the age group most commonly found was between 25 and 50 years old. The predominant sexual orientation was heterosexual (63%-95%), and the majority of the population studied was married (22% and 98.7%). Among the most important barriers were low socioeconomic status, lack of promotion of the diagnostic test, fear of a positive result, stigma by health personnel, lack of adherence to treatment, fear of disclosure of serostatus and low self-perception of being ill.
