description Diferentes tratamientos para la periodontitis se han relacionado no solo con la resolución de la inflamación periodontal, sino también con la regeneración de los tejidos periodontales afectados. Uno de ellos se basa en el tratamiento con proteínas derivadas de la matriz del esmalte: Emdogain®, el cual está compuesto de diversas proteínas que participan en la formación del cemento en la raíz del diente en desarrollo, proporcionando una matriz de andamiaje para todos los tejidos necesarios asociados a una inserción verdaderamente funcional logrando la regeneración del periodonto: el cemento, el ligamento periodontal y el hueso alveolar. En esta guía, se dará información sobre el producto, la manera en que debe aplicarse y las referencias bibliográficas de los diferentes estudios que se han realizado corroborando su importancia en el tratamiento de la enfermedad periodontal.
