description La ehrlichiosis monocítica canina (CME), causada por Ehrlichia canis, una bacteria intracelular obligada gramnegativa, es una enfermedad transmitida por garrapatas de distribución mundial, La garrapata es un artrópodo que genera múltiples problemas a la salud de los animales de compañía, es de aspecto cocoide a pleomorfo, que infectan los monocitos y desencadenan síntomas como fiebre elevada, anorexia, trombocitopenia, hemorragias, entre otros. El objetivo de este trabajo es hacer una revisión de literatura actualizada, para identificar los diferentes métodos diagnósticos y tratamientos que se deben de realizar en pro a la mejoría de la salud en perros con ehrlichia canis.
