Summary:Colombia because of its geographical location, rich natural resources, its geopolitical position, the various free trade agreements and a promising peace agreement; must develop its infrastructure to be competitive globally, for it must potentiate the field and pathways. Oriental (geographical mid country) area where important agricultural and livestock enterprises are located, oil-rich area, which is seen as the most prosperous short term, plains requires evaluating the sources of materials that allow the momentum of this development, such is ariari the case of river, which supplies construction materials that require confirmation of quality for the manufacture of concrete, base and subbase; NTC sticking to Rule 174 and INV E-200-2013, which describes the necessary tests and set the parameters limits scientific and engineering acceptance; in this paper the results of the analysis of coarse and fine aggregates respect to its grain size, bulk density and percentage of voids in compact and loose state, health to the action of the solutions of sodium sulfate and / or magnesium are displayed , amount of light particles, specific gravity, absorption, percentage of fractured faces, flattening index and elongation, determination of clay lumps and friable particles, organic matter content of sand used in the preparation of concrete and mortar, sand equivalent soils and fine aggregates, determination of the material passing through the sieve of 75 .mu.m (No. 200) in the rock aggregates by washing, coarse aggregate resistance to degradation by abrasion using the micro-Deval, apparatus for determining both cleaning as the content of harmful substances, durability, absorption, allowing the characterization of aggregates and provide real data to ensure quality builders who will use Rio ariari materials extracted in Granada Meta.
