description	El suicidio es un problema de salud mental universal, según la Clasificación Internacional de Enfermedades (CIE-10, 1993), El suicidio genera problemas y consecuencias particulares a los familiares, amigos y parejas. La capacidad adquirida para el suicidio se fundamenta en la teoría interpersonal para explicar la transición entre la ideación y la acción suicida. Teóricamente, se caracteriza por la intrepidez hacia la muerte y tolerancia al dolor, originarios de la exposición a eventos altamente adversos. El objetivo de este estudio fue establecer la relación entre la capacidad adquirida para el suicidio y la satisfacción con la vida en jóvenes entre 18-35 años de edad en Santa Marta, Colombia para esto se utilizó el enfoque metodológico cuantitativo secuencial y probatorio; La muestra de esta investigación estuvo conformada por 116 personas residentes en la ciudad de Santa Marta, Colombia y el resultado de este estudio dio a conocer que 36 jóvenes se encuentran en un nivel bajo de satisfacción con la vida y respecto a la satisfacción con la vida no está vinculada con una menor tolerancia al dolor e intrepidez hacia la muerte, sino que puede configurarse por otros factores. Se concluye que La capacidad adquirida para el suicidio no se relaciona con la satisfacción con la vida en jóvenes de Santa Marta, Colombia.

Suicide generates particular problems and consequences for family members, friends and partners. The acquired capacity for suicide is based on interpersonal theory to explain the transition between suicidal ideation and action. Theoretically, it is characterized by fearlessness towards death and pain tolerance, originating from exposure to highly adverse events. The objective of this study was to establish the relationship between the acquired capacity for suicide and satisfaction with life in young people between 18-35 years of age in Santa Marta, Colombia. For this, the quantitative sequential and evidentiary methodological approach was used; The sample of this research was made up of 116 people living in the city of Santa Marta, Colombia and the result of this study revealed that 36 young people are at a low level of satisfaction with life and with respect to satisfaction with life. It is not linked to a lower tolerance for pain and fearlessness towards death, but can be configured by other factors.
