Canine monocytic ehrlichiosis is caused by a rickettsial bacterium, Ehrlichia canis, which is distributed throughout the world, having a special affinity for tropical and subtropical regions in the different countries where it is distributed, affecting carnivores, especially companion dogs and some wild.
