La psicología del deporte reconoce la importancia de los árbitros en el deporte. Sin embargo, aún se necesitan pruebas sobre las variables psicológicas relacionadas con las decisiones arbitrales. Se evaluaron las características psicológicas relacionadas con el rendimiento deportivo (control del estrés, influencia de la evaluación del rendimiento, motivación, habilidades mentales y cohesión del equipo) y se compararon con el rol del árbitro (árbitros vs árbitros asistentes), experiencia, edad y nivel educativo. Se realizó un diseño transversal, sesenta y un árbitros profesionales y semiprofesionales de Colombia (Mage = 22.5; DT = 4.1) completaron el cuestionario de Características Psicológicas relacionadas con el Rendimiento Deportivo adaptado para Árbitros de Fútbol (CPRD-AF, por sus siglas en inglés) . Los hallazgos revelaron que las características psicológicas son consistentes con respecto al rol y la experiencia del árbitro. Se encontraron diferencias entre el control del estrés y la edad [FSC (3, 57) = 3.83, p = .27, η 2 = .38], donde el grupo de 28-34 años fue significativamente mayor que el de 16-21 años -grupo antiguo. Se encontraron diferencias significativas entre el control del estrés y el nivel educativo [FSC (4, 56) = 3.19, p = .030, η 2 = .14], los árbitros de posgrado tuvieron mayor control del estrés en comparación con los árbitros de pregrado (p <.027). La evaluación del desempeño tiene una influencia significativamente mayor en los árbitros de posgrado que en los árbitros universitarios (p <.036). Las investigaciones futuras deben evaluar los factores sociales y las características psicológicas relacionadas con el desempeño del árbitro e incluir diferentes tipos de roles de árbitros. |

La evaluación del desempeño tiene una influencia significativamente mayor en los árbitros de posgrado que en los árbitros universitarios (p <.036). Las investigaciones futuras deben evaluar los factores sociales y las características psicológicas relacionadas con el desempeño del árbitro e incluir diferentes tipos de roles de árbitros.Sports psychology acknowledges the importance of referees in sports. However, evidence is still needed on psychological variables related to refereeing decisions. Psychological characteristics related to sports performance (Stress Control, Influence of Performance Evaluation, Motivation, Mental Skills, and Team Cohesion) were assessed and compared to referee role (referees vs assistant referees), experience, age, and education level. A cross-sectional design was realized, sixty-one professional and semiprofessional referees from Colombia (Mage = 22.5; SD = 4.1) completed the questionnaire for Psychological Characteristics related to Sports Performance adapted for Football Referees (CPRD-AF, for its Spanish acronym). Findings revealed that psychological characteristics are consistent regarding the referee role and experience. Differences were found between stress control and age [FSC(3, 57) =3.83, p = .27, η 2 = .38], were the 28-34-year-old group was significantly higher than the 16-21-year-old group. Significant differences were found between stress control and education level [FSC(4, 56) =3.19, p = .030, η 2 = .14], postgraduate referees had higher stress control compared with undergraduate referees (p <.027). Performance evaluation has a significantly higher influence on postgraduate referees than college referees (p< .036).
