This review was conducted in the SCOPUS database and focused on the following as the main topics: 1. Financial aspects, 2. Repositories, 3. Education, 4. Academic community's perception of OA resources, 5. Tools, 6. Policies, 7. Institutions, 8. Stakeholders, and 9. Impact. Out of these topics, the financial aspect, especially in OA’s publication costs, was identified as driving great interest among researchers in the field. On the other hand, the study of the impact of OA is a subject little examined. Although research on OA in the higher education sector analyzes different perspectives and describes advances, challenges, and concerns, it is fair to conclude that OA encourages the creation and dissemination of knowledge and academic communicationhttps://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0001114026https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=0000845302https://scienti.minciencias.gov.co/cvlac/visualizador/generarCurriculoCv.do?cod_rh=00013012840000-0001-7375-30520000-0003-2938-24390000-0002-3773-50060000-0002-5153-1907GRINTECCEIL-MDCIFADmariutsia@gmail.commireya.jaime@uniminuto.edutalcantarac@unam.mxpiedad.barreto@campusucc.edu.cohttps://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=en&user=RqHVt8AAAAAJhttps://scholar.google.com/citations?user=jul0vw8AAAAJ&hl=enhttps://scholar.google.com/citations?user=UbXf4OIAAAAJ&hl=enhttps://scholar.google.com/citations?user=J7j2WboAAAAJ&hl=en12Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia, Facultad de Derecho, Derecho, BogotáASTES PublishersDerechoBogotáhttps://www.astesj.com/v06/i02/p57/Advances in Science, Technology and Engineering SystemsM.A. Osorio-Sanabria, P.L.
